Paladin People – Matt King
Matt Adds Knowledge, Calm Presence to Paladin Support
When clients reach out to Paladin Support, they might feel like their world is a bit off balance. That’s when a calm presence and a soothing voice can make all the difference, helping to get things back on track.
Technical Support Representative Matt King is often that reassuring voice. He brings both knowledge and a sense of calm to help clients solve their challenges. It’s a role he loves and excels at.
Currently, Matt is part of Squad 1, which focuses on hardware issues like printers and credit card terminals. He also spent part of his first year with Paladin in Squad 2, dealing with software challenges.
“I really enjoy being in a cross-training position. It gives me more tools to help customers, ideally resolving their issues in one call,” Matt explains. “Most of the time, they just need a reassuring voice to tell them, ‘It’s going to be alright. We’ve got this handled.’”
Matt and his squad handle a variety of tasks, including remote builds, server swaps, and hardware setups, often after normal business hours. Their versatility benefits both the support staff and Paladin clients.
“It’s the collaborative nature of Paladin’s culture that allows us to help our customers more efficiently and ensures our entire team is constantly learning and growing,” he says. “Our customers are like a whetstone, sharpening our skills, and if you’re willing to listen, you’ll find valuable insights everywhere.”
Matt’s journey began in Ketchikan, Alaska, where he was born. His father was in the Coast Guard, so the family spent several years near the ocean. After Ketchikan, they lived in Astoria, Oregon, and then moved to Chocowinity, North Carolina. However, Matt has spent most of his life in Central Oregon.
With a strong technical background, Matt fits right into Paladin. He joined the company after working in tech support, helping students at Central Oregon Community College and OSU-Cascades with accessibility challenges.
Like many of Paladin’s support staff, Matt has a connection to Best Buy’s Geek Squad. Although he didn’t work there himself, his younger brother, Chris (nicknamed Critter by Matt), suggested he check out Paladin because he kept losing his top technicians to the company.
Matt is a father of three – 17-year-old Davin, 19-year-old Iris, and his beloved dog Roux (like the sauce), an English Mastiff, German Boxer mix.
