Paladin People – Calvin Garner
Teamwork, Multitasking are Calvin’s Specialties
Paladin clients who work with Customer Experience Specialist Calvin Garner are in good hands for two reasons: He knows Paladin forward and backward, and he is a great multi-tasker.
Calvin came to Paladin in 2020 and in a short time he has excelled in supporting clients with software questions and hardware challenges. He’s become so adept with Paladin, that he is actively involved in the company’s training program.
As a member of the Customer Experience team, Calvin serves a group of about two dozen stores on a regular basis and he lends his knowledge to his Paladin colleagues when needed. His ability to multitask is on display every day at work as he juggles requests from his stores.
“In CX, we do almost everything you do in Paladin Support – everything from training to solving problems when hardware isn’t working. We work with stores that just need a little more support,” Calvin explains.
Calvin’s multitasking doesn’t stop when he leaves the Bend, Oregon office, either. He’s busy as a single father of three teenagers – 15-year-old Elizabeth, 14-year-old Dominic, and 13-year-old Emily.
His ability to handle many different challenges and situations was learned early in his life. Calvin chuckles when he explains that because his family moved a lot, he attended nine different schools from Prineville, Oregon to Kennewick, Washington during his K-12 years. He graduated from tiny Irrigon Senior High School in a class of 45.
Following high school, he spent nine years in the Oregon National Guard and was an infantry team leader from 2007 to 2016. Two of those years, he was in Iraq working convoy security.
Much like his time in the National Guard, Calvin says he enjoys the teamwork at Paladin. Paladin Support technicians work collaboratively when necessary to solve client challenges.
“It’s fun. It’s nice to work with people at stores who know me. I like being able to pass on things I’ve learned while I’ve been here,” he says.
