David is Quick to Learn, Quick to Help

Dave Whitman, one of Paladin’s talented technical services representatives, is what is commonly known as a “quick study.” He’s only been with the company since November 2022, but he’s already earning rave reviews from the stores he works with. Cases in point ranging from the Pacific Northwest to the Gulf Coast:

  • “Dave is amazing! He has been a huge help in getting us converted over to BlockChyp.  Give him a big raise!” – Cle Elum Farm and Home, Cle Elum, Washington
  • “Dave was great! Dave was able to fix our issue quickly and got us back going. Dave knows what he is doing.” – Morton Home Center, Morton, Mississippi

Those comments have come with Dave’s first six months with the company and attest to his ability to learn Paladin Point of Sale quickly and thoroughly. Solving a store’s challenges requires looking at them from a variety of views – often recreating them in-house – developing a solution and communicating that fix to the store’s owner or manager. It also requires doing all that quickly.

“Dave is level-headed, intelligent and a pleasure to work with. Every challenge that I have given him, he has risen above it and mastered it in a way that is unique and helpful to others,” says Dave’s supervisor Squad 1 Lead Joe Walker. So, as Patrick Kelly of Morton Home Center says, Dave knows what he is doing!

Dave focuses on solving clients’ hardware challenges and in recent months he’s become Paladin’s go-to guy for stores interested in setting up with payment processor BlockChyp. He performs rate reviews, orders terminals, sets up systems, and gets them familiar with their new processor.

“It’s been kind of cool building relationships with these stores. I talk to them several times during the process to get them locked in,” he says. “I’ve kind of dug out a niche doing this.”

Even though Dave hasn’t been with Paladin very long, this isn’t his first rodeo. He worked as an IT administrator for several years, has several years of experience in technical customer support, and builds PCs in his spare time.

Like many of his coworkers, Dave was raised in Central Oregon – Bend is where Paladin’s technical development and support center is located. Like many people attracted to the region, he enjoys the outdoors – floating the rivers, hiking, and barbecuing with his family which includes his young son Sylas.
