Calvin brings knowledge and experience to help new stores

When it comes to solving client challenges, few at Paladin Data Corporation bring the depth and versatility of Calvin Garner. Over the past five and a half years, Calvin has become one of the company’s most well-rounded technicians, building a wealth of knowledge across multiple teams and roles.

Calvin began his journey at Paladin in 2020, starting in Squad 1, where he tackled hardware-related issues. His quick grasp of the Paladin Point of Sale system soon led him to Squad 2, where he focused on software support. His expertise grew rapidly, and he transitioned into a training role, helping new stores get up to speed with Paladin’s tools and features.

From there, Calvin joined the Customer Experience team, where he provided dedicated support to a group of about two dozen stores. Whether assisting clients or mentoring colleagues, Calvin became a go-to resource for all things Paladin.

Now, he’s preparing for his next chapter—joining the project management team as an account specialist. In this role, he’ll help new clients onboard, ensuring they’re set up for long-term success using his extensive knowledge of the software.

“It’s exciting for me to learn new things about the program and be able to actually use those things to help people. Having that little random piece of knowledge that I might have gotten from two years ago and that might have been forgotten about to help somebody who needs it is always rewarding,” Calvin explains. “It’s a new way to use the knowledge and experience I’ve gained.”

Beyond onboarding, Calvin also plays a critical role in Paladin’s emergency response team, offering 24/7 support to stores facing catastrophic events. He uses his expertise in testing new Paladin integrations and features like PaladinShop™. He also shares his insights through Paladin University webinars, helping clients and colleagues alike stay informed and empowered.

Calvin’s multitasking doesn’t stop when he leaves the Bend, Oregon office, either. He’s proud busy father of three teenagers – Elizabeth, Dominic, and Emily – and will soon welcome three more children when he and fiancée Brooke marry later this year.

Calvin’s adaptability and resilience were shaped early in life. Growing up, he attended nine different schools across Oregon and Washington due to frequent moves. After high school, he served nine years in the Oregon National Guard, including a deployment to Iraq where he led an infantry team in convoy security operations.

Today, Calvin channels all that experience into helping Paladin clients thrive.

“It’s fun. I like being able to pass on things I’ve learned while I’ve been here,” he says.
