Paladin People: Leesa Jenkins
Helping Keep Paladin on Track
When Leesa Jenkins came to Paladin, it took her a little longer than normal to get to know the company. Not because of her job duties, but because she joined when most of the staff was working from home due to Oregon’s COVID-19 restrictions. Leesa has been at Paladin for over a year, but actually only met a few of her coworkers over the past month.
“When I started there was no one here in the office. Then when everybody came back, they were wearing masks, so I didn’t really see them until recently. It’s almost like I started here three different times,” she says with a laugh.
The extended indoctrination period certainly didn’t stop her from digging into her job as Paladin’s accounting assistant. Leesa handles reconciliations for the company – “daily, weekly and monthly,” she says.
Mallory McCool, Paladin’s controller and Leesa’s supervisor, says Leesa’s work goes way beyond her job description, though.
“She is the organizing guru of the accounting department,” Mallory says. “She completely owned our sales tax project. She’s way too modest.”
Working at Paladin is right in Leesa’s wheelhouse. She previously worked at two CPA firms and worked at Les Schwab in its enterprise resource planning (ERP) program when it was transitioning to new software and a new point-of-sale (POS) system.
Leesa was born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin, so she is celebrating her Milwaukee Bucks’ recent NBA championship. She lived for several years in Albuquerque, New Mexico before finding her way to Bend. Leesa says she, husband Chad, 13-year-old son, Evan, and their Corgi, Andi, enjoy all the Central Oregon outdoors has to offer.
