Paladin’s Multistore Capabilities Make it Perfect for Village Hardware
Joe DiSano doesn’t like missing an opportunity, and since he partnered with brother Dan and cousin Larry Fazio to open their first hardware store in 1980 in upstate New York – in Baldwinsville – he hasn’t missed many. Over the years, the trio turned a 3,000-square-foot store with a meager inventory into three thriving Village Ace Hardware stores.
Success didn’t come overnight, but within two years of opening, the partners and dedicated crew had the store filled with loyal do-it-yourselfers and contractors. Stores in Weedsport and Fayetteville followed in 1999 and eventually, all three stores expanded their product lines to include items such as Traeger grills, Yankee Candles, Willow Tree and Girlfriend Gifts making them much more than hardware stores.
With such a vast product line spread out over three stores surrounding the greater Syracuse area, the partners needed a retail platform that could manage their entire business. They needed a cutting-edge platform that seamlessly integrated with Ace Hardware, was both simple to use and maintain and was affordable and scalable.
They found all of that with Paladin Data Corporation.
“Paladin is the best POS system I’ve ever had in my three stores. I’m always amazed at Paladin’s capability to respond to all of Ace’s promotions.”
Paladin has many features that appealed to Village Hardware, but its multi-store capabilities stood out. It allows them to:
- Capitalize on their inventory investment with centralized management of all locations
- Transfer products between stores in real-time
- View and manage each store’s operations individually
The intuitive point of sale system and the platform’s many supplier and business features and integrations give the operation a single touchpoint to manage everything from inventory orders to final sales and beyond. Paladin’s thorough integration with Ace EDI, Ace Rewards, Ace Dynamic Promotions and other Ace programs assures Joe he won’t miss any of his co-op’s opportunities.
They found the integration with Ace Hardware’s Instant Savings and Rewards programs to be seamless with Paladin. Also, Paladin’s ability to “lock in” specific inventory details means they have greater control over what’s changed when Ace hot sheets are processed.
“Paladin is the best POS system I’ve ever had in my three stores,” he says. “I’m always amazed at Paladin’s capability to respond to all of Ace’s promotions.”
The partners were also impressed with Paladin’s “kits” feature, where items that are usually purchased together can be combined into a kit. Joe loves being able to go into any customer’s account and review any previous invoices. It’s a feature he finds himself using constantly.
“I can now truthfully recommend my POS system to people and feel really good about it,” Joe says.
