Paladin Clients Highlighted at Ace Spring Show

Last month at its spring show in Dallas, Ace Hardware both celebrated 100 years in the industry and shared its corporate message with its member stores – “Always play to win, it channels intensity.”

President and CEO John Venhuizen also shared numbers that reflected Ace’s phenomenal growth over the past five years. In 2019, the average Ace store’s annual revenue was $2.5 million. Now, it’s $3.6 million.

An account of the meeting produced by HBS Dealer, Ace Senior Vice President of Retail Strategy and Operations, highlighted the success of RT Ace Hardware in Broken Bow, Nebraska. Joe and Liz Franssen purchased the store – Pracht’s Ace Hardware – in 2021.

Under Joe’s leadership and using Paladin Point of Sale, which is fully integrated with Ace programs, the store has nearly doubled its earnings from $186 per square foot to $368 per square foot, earning it Ace’s valued Pinnacle status. The success has the Franssens preparing to open another store in neighboring Gothenburg.  Read more

Nick McKelvey recently opened a second store in Louisville, Kansas, which was noted in the March Hardware Connection.

Nick’s first store, McKelvey’s True Value, located in Drexel, Missouri, joined Paladin in 2022.

 

Cole’s Ace Hardware Grand Opening

Cole’s Ace Hardware celebrated its grand opening in Independence, Iowa, in March. The store is part of the Paladin family.

Brad Cole’s store serves the residents of Independence, a community of roughly 6,000 east of Waterloo. Read more

 

Montana Ace Highlighted for Farm, Specialty Items

Stew Weis’s Montana Ace Eastgate store in Missoula was featured in HBS Dealer in March for its unique product offerings.

Assistant Manager Mary Borrelli, who was recently honored as one of the Top Women in Hardware by the publication, explains how stocking a feed and farm department and carrying both pet products and items “Made in Montana” has turned a slew of occasional shoppers into regulars.

Stew and his Montana Ace stores have been with Paladin since 2010. Read more
