Why the Switch?

Before Miller’s Pharmacy installed the Paladin Point of Sale system, they were using a simple cash register at the customer check-out counter. They used a separate credit card terminal that produced a receipt that would be stapled to the original receipt. Miller’s Pharmacy could only collect money for prescriptions (RX) and over-the-counter (OTC) items and process credit cards. If there were any complicated procedures that they couldn’t handle, there was no point of sale system to rely on.

Signatures were collected and documented in a pharmacy software system for things like HIPAA compliance and insurance proof-of-pickup. The software could log signatures and dates, but wasn’t able to process payments. Since payment and signatures were separate, this called for extra work instead of a one-step process.

Miller’s Pharmacy purchased the Paladin Point of Sale system in August of 2010. They were excited to see what their new point of sale could do for them by taking care of signatures and payment processing. Miller’s was so excited that they went live three weeks after delivery.

Their Paladin POS system provides them with the following benefits:

Acquire automated price updates through a link with RDC

All OTC and RX items are recognized through scanning at point of sale

Integration with their IPS Pharmacy System as well as their wholesaler

Check-out discounts have been set to require a manager approval

Proof of pickup and filled vs. pickup reports available

Signatures are collected electronically and stored for audit purposes

Generate suggested order reports to simplify the ordering process

Provide integrated payment processing which nearly eliminates human error

Decreased wait times at checkout by streamlining operations

Paladin is Worth it

Miller’s Pharmacy has updated their store and left the tiresome processes behind.

After purchasing Paladin POS, Miller’s Pharmacy went from a manual point of sale process to full-on automation for all OTC and RX items. What once was challenging became automatic – they don’t have to labor over logging purchases and reports. Miller’s improved their inventory and pricing control process, and streamlined their signature capture method into their POS system. They achieved PCI compliancy with credit card processing and other regulatory compliance with HIPAA, pharmacy consultation and proof-of-pickup requirements.

With so many regulations and requirements involved, Paladin POS made everything simple and effortless.

Out with the Old, In with the New

Miller’s Pharmacy purchased the Paladin POS system in August of 2010. They were excited to see what their new point of sale could do for them with advanced ordering, receiving, and price updates. Miller’s was so excited that they went live three weeks after purchasing.

The Paladin Point of Sale system comes with integration to Miller’s SuiteRX IPS Pharmacy System. This integration allows for rapid prescription checkout and patient data transfers. It is one of the helpful features that Miller’s use to help their customers.

Miller’s Pharmacy required integration with Rochester Drug Cooperative (RDC) for ordering, receiving, and price updates. The pharmacy needed to be compatible with their wholesaler. There were so many necessities! Still, Paladin POS came through.

By integrating with RDC, Miller’s Pharmacy is now equipped to automate the ordering process and keep better tabs on pricing and margin control.
